Can flowers make a wedding? They can certainly transform a gorgeous venue into somewhere ethereal and completely unforgettable. That might not make a wedding but it sure sets the scene for something special.
We live in New Zealand and decided to get married in Los Angeles, Matty Heron and his team at The Petal Workshop came highly recommended. I met with Matty just once, showed him my pallet, my dress and the napkins I wanted made with our guests names monogrammed on. He suggested a tone, I updated him once with an image and said 'OK now go do what you do best Matty. You're the floral expert not me, do whatever you want. I'll see you on the day.'
He gave me such confidence in him at that one meeting I walked away from the flowers knowing they had everything under control. He liaised with our co-ordinator and kept me informed as he went.
He loved he had carte blanche (with a budget which he stayed within) and what he delivered still astounds me. People see our photos and always say 'omg those flowers....' The right flowers can bring a warmth and vibrancy to an event, they can create an atmosphere that people walk into before your event starts, they can be a real head start to any function.
It was my choice not to see what he had planned, I wanted a surprise and I would do that again and again, it meant I got to walk into something that took my breath away just as our guests did.
That might not work for everyone but it worked for me.
Brides have enough to stress about, I recommend hiring the right people and letting them do what they excel at.
Makes me wish I lived in California, I would surround myself in whatever he chose for me and I would love to be able to send his flowers to my friends and family."

Amazing Flowers, Amazing Owner! When my best friend got engaged, I ordered a bright and beautiful arrangement to be sent to her office. She sent me a photo because not only was she in awe of the elegant and interesting arrangement, her coworkers kept commenting on them (and she loved telling them the reason for their arrival.)
About a month later her and her fiancé decided to elope at the Santa Barbara Courthouse. She had a beautiful dress, veil and fiancé but no bouquet. How can you get married without a bouquet? I reached out to Petal Workshop again but in a more panicked haste. They were quick to respond, a delight to work with and delivered a stunning, romantic bridal bouquet. "I don't know where to start.
To say that Matty and his team at The Petal Workshop are spectacular is an understatement--they far exceed spectacular. I reached out to Matty for help in creating a floral arrangement for my mother's funeral; her last wish, to be buried under a sea of white flowers. The Petal Workshop was the only studio willing to take on a project like the one my mother had asked...and within a week's notice.
One of my mother's greatest pleasures in life was receiving floral arrangements. Not only was the team at The Petal Workshop able to execute such an unusual request, but they brainstormed a way for my mother to receive her final bouquets from the 140+ loved ones in attendance--she was buried with white hydrangea hand bouquets tied with her favorite colored ribbon.
Matty was beyond accommodating, compassionate, and truly took the time to understand the woman my mother was and the flowers that would best represent and celebrate her life. Matty was by my side every step of the way; easy to reach, easy to work with, and kind. His care and concern is uncommon and not an easy feat given we were working with a three-hour CA to FL time difference and my schedule as a full-time student. Matty and his team were an absolute dream come true--they not only created a stunning piece which brought tears to all who knew my mother and her immense love of flowers, but team members James and Maya stayed for hours to assure that the arrangement was placed properly.
The Petal Workshop team is tremendous and their work reflects that, though I'm preaching to the choir as exemplified by the host of photos attached to their Yelp profile. The arrangement was everything I could have imagined, asked for, and then some. I don't have words to accurately capture the beauty it brought to such a somber moment.

"I rarely write Yelp reviews, but this calls for an absolute rave. There is no better florist in Los Angeles. I've lived here for 15 years, and have ordered from many different companies -- but Matty and The Petal Workshop outshine them all.
I found The Petal Workshop while researching florists for my wedding reception/1-year anniversary party at Calamigos Ranch, and fell in love with Matty's incredible creations -- just look at the images posted on Yelp! He's not just a florist; he's a fine artist, a sculptor, an architect.
However, my party planner wanted to work with a different florist, one with whom she usually does business, and I reluctantly agreed -- until I received their quote: approximately $6000 for ten small table arrangements and two large anchor arrangements. It seemed steep, so I emailed Matty about his availability. He responded immediately, and after receiving the details of my event, he offered to do the same number of arrangements for approximately a third of the cost.
He was completely delightful to work with every step of the way; answered every query I sent within hours (at the most); understood exactly what I was asking for in terms of flower type, arrangement type, and palette; cheerfully agreed to add a few bud vase arrangements to my order at the last minute; sent me an adorable sneak peek video of the arrangements in progress the night before the event; and delivered THE MOST GORGEOUS FLOWERS EVER to the venue.
One of the things I loved most was that every single one of the arrangements was unique -- using the same flowers and the same colors, he created a dozen floral works of art that were completely different from one another, but looked perfect together. Looking at these arrangements, or any of his work, it's clear they were made by person who just loves what they do, and puts all of their creative energies into each and every job.
My guests fought over who got to take arrangements home, and I got next-day photos from several of them thanking me for the flowers and asking who my florist was.
From now on, there's only every going to be one answer to that question: The Petal Workshop. Matty, you are the best!"

"Overall, first-class all the way around. The flowers were beautiful and the customer service I received was truly best-in-class service. I'm not from Los Angeles but due to an unforseen tragedy, I had to purchase last second flowers. I made my purchase online after reviewing several options and checked out. Because of the 3 hour time difference (I am in Atlanta), I went about my day. At 11 AM EST (8 AM EST for California), I get a personal call from someone and they provided me the details of the flowers (which went right over my head because I know very little about floral arrangements and the beauty/artistry it takes), the delivery method, etc... I appreciated the call and once they learned why I had to purchase the flowers, they made my delivery a priority.

This is where The Petal Workshop really impressed me. The delivery was to be made in a downtown Los Angeles residential home - the only thing is, the residential home is gated. I got a call from the owner and he explained to me my different options. Due to the heat and the delicacy of the floral arrangement, leaving it outside was not an option (again, I'm a guy - I know very little about flowers). We come to the conclusion that the only option was to redeliver at a later time. The owner says he will not charge me which astounded me. He provides me the contact information of his driver/delivery man, Darrett, and we communicate throughout the day for the best option(s).

Essentially, we come to the conclusion that we have to deliver the floral arrangement past 7 PM. Darrett goes about his day and returns back to this residential home at 7 PM, waits until the resident arrives, and makes the delivery around 7:30 PM PST (10:3) PM EST). Talk about great customer service? That is going above and beyond the call of duty to help a customer!

I can't say enough good things about the owner and driver. First-class and very accomodating and understanding. I don't know why Cali-people get a bad rep. in the South because the one time I visited, everyone was very nice and from a business perspective, all my interactions were great!

The Petal Workshop was recommended to me by my friend who used them for her wedding and when I spoke to Matty over the phone, I knew we were going to click!
